IPB International Convention Center, Botani Square: Bogor, 23 August 2013
Biomaterials is a field of study in the world’s most advanced medicine for biomedical applications. In Indonesia, biomaterials related research have been carried out by several institutions in Indonesia, such as research institutes and universities including IPB. This study is intended to support the development of materials and technologies of medical equipment in the country. However, the results of these studies have not been many implemented directly perceived in society. According to the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices, Ministry of Health of the Republic Indonesia that the current medical equipment in the country is 90% dependent on imports. Addressing these problems IPB initiate the implementation of the National Workshop on ” Initiation and Development of Biomaterials Research in Indonesia” in order to improve the Indonesian universities and research institutes role in the development of biomaterials by utilizing the potential of Indonesia’s natural resources.
B. Objective and Output
